In 2014, my lovely daughter, Lora (four years old at that time), and I designed three characters—Aimie, Brightie, and Dooie—representing our emotions, thoughts, and actions. We played together, and in our play, we both re-created evidence-based practices—Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)—using an easy-to-understand language. This simplified version of CBT and ACT helped us use these practices in an easy, fun, and mindful way in our daily lives.
Eight years later, this play resulted in a parent-child guide—a workbook to help caregivers and their kids (8-12 years old) learn how to deal with stress and anxiety and build a resilient mindset together. Lora and I hope to inspire you and your loved ones to embark on a joint journey, which will enhance your relationship with one another and enrich your lives with meaningful and memorable experiences. |
Your role as a parent is to be your children’s guide while they are growing and developing physically, cognitively, and emotionally. As a role model and a respected, trustworthy adult, you will be helping your kids learn, develop flexibility in their thinking, and build a resilient mindset. |
