Inside the Book

Excerpt:

"The Five Pillars of Parental Resilience—self/child-care, self/child-awareness, self/child validation, self/child-appreciation, and a sense of purpose and parental legacy—generate a domino effect in your and your children’s lives. They model for your kids ways to cope with life’s setbacks, maintain positive relationships, engage, and enjoy their life when they experience big feelings.

When you model the Five Pillars of Parental Resilience and the Growth Rock, your kids watch you, imitate you, and internalize these important life practices that will help build their resilience."

Lora to Children:
Meet Aimie, Brightie, and Dooie!

Picture
All people have areas in their brains that make them feel, think, and act. After talking to my mom, I made up the main characters in this workbook: Aimie, Brightie, and Dooie. You also have them in your brain.

Aimie, Brightie, and Dooie have the following IMPORTANT roles in your brain:
  • Aimie makes you feel anxiety, fear, anger, and other emotions.
  • Brightie makes you think and imagine things.
  • Dooie makes you act.
  • Aimie, Brightie, and Dooie act together to make things happen or not happen in every person’s life.

Learning about Aimie, Brightie, and Dooie has helped me understand how people build their Worry Habits and what people can do to change those Worry Habits. I hope to help you learn how you develop your Worry Habits and what you can do to change them.
